Hi! My name is Kristen Himmelberg and I am the content creator here. My background is in writing and journalism, with a lot of food marketing thrown in there. I recently recieved my masters in food studies from NYU, and am interested in the intersection of food history, culture, and society.

This site was inspired by my travels to Cuba, Czech Republic, Germany and Italy where I was able to study their past and present food systems, and found that there were many stories from the way that the people there have survived foodwise that could be helpful to share with people all around the world. I think that many human experiences are universal, and I hope that with this site we can share stories and show just how interconnected we all are, especially when it comes to food.
